Bird Trap

Pigeons and other large bird populations aren't just a nuisance — they're a liability.

Where large bird populations gather, problems follow fast. Feces accumulate on buildings, equipment, and infrastructure, creating slip-and-fall hazards, accelerating corrosion, and triggering sanitation violations. Around feed lots, grain storage, and dairy operations, contamination threatens both livestock health and food safety.

The disease risk alone demands action. Avian influenza — including strains like H5N1, H5N2, and H5N8 — can jump from wild birds to poultry, livestock, domestic animals, and humans. Airports, municipalities, parks, and public waterways face compounding risks as bird populations go unmanaged.
Traditional capture methods make the job harder than it has to be. Rocket net systems require explosive certifications, use steel projectiles that can injure animals and operators, and generate enough noise to scatter birds and alert the public — limiting where and how often you can deploy. Every day you reset charges, re-rig nets, and start over.

There's a better way to work.

Why Choose the Pigeon Trap?

Remote Monitoring & Activation Integrated with the HogEye Camera System and app, operators can monitor and trigger the trap from any distance — keeping your team off-site and out of sight until the moment of capture.

Inconspicuous by Design The net lays flat on the ground, invisible to birds and unnoticed by the public. Set it, bait it, and let animals acclimate on their own schedule — no daily resets required.

No Explosives. No Projectiles. No Certifications. Shock cord tension replaces propellants entirely. There's no fire risk, no loud report, and no need for special licensing — making it deployable in urban environments where rocket nets simply can't go.

Safe for Animals and Operators Single-point activation sends the net up and over from the outside in, containing birds humanely. Lower injury risk for the animals, and zero projectile risk for your crew.

Multi-Species Capable Designed for pigeons, effective on doves, starlings, turkeys, and other ground-feeding species — one system handles a wide range of management scenarios.

Portable and Fast to Deploy The entire net system fits in a standard tote. One or two people can set up in minutes, stake it down with earth anchors, and move it to the next site when the job is done.

Works on Any Surface Hard gravel, grass, dirt — the system stakes down cleanly on virtually any terrain you encounter in the field.

Your Nuisance Bird Problem Deserves a Real Solution

If you’re dealing with a challenge no standard trap can fix, we’ll help you find the right answer — and build it if it doesn’t exist.

Freedom restored. Our work ensures that wildlife can thrive and return to the landscapes where they belong.

Why We Built It
Wildlife Dominion developed the Pigeon Trap in direct partnership with USDA Wildlife Services — because the professionals doing this work every day needed something that didn't exist yet.

Existing systems forced a choice between small traps that caught a handful of birds at a time, or large rocket net rigs that required explosive certifications, endangered operators, and couldn't be used anywhere near the public. Neither option was built for the realities of modern wildlife management.

We set out to build something different: a system that's quiet enough for urban deployment, safe enough to leave unattended, and smart enough to be triggered from anywhere.

How It Works
The Pigeon Trap uses a two-panel net system that lays completely flat on the ground. Because there's no cage, no box, and no visible launch device, birds move in and feed naturally — often for days — before any capture event takes place.

When the target number of birds is in position, a single electronic trigger releases the shock cord tension and both net panels deploy simultaneously — up and over the birds from the outside in. The weighted perimeter rope keeps the net sealed at ground level, and the shock cord holds tension so birds can't push out from underneath.

The entire activation happens remotely.

The HogEye Advantage
The trap integrates directly with the HogEye Camera System. Operators monitor the site in real time through the HogEye app — watching bird counts build, assessing the composition of the group, and choosing the exact moment to trigger. Your team never has to be on-site to run the operation.

That means less disturbance, less public exposure, and a cleaner capture event every time.
